Small Rimu slab, Kiln Dry and Rough Sawn flat. The slabs natural edge has been kept providing a natural organic character. This slab has previously hosted Huhu, the beetle lava gain size as they feast on wet fallen Rinu logs. The galleries shown in the photo are from juvenile Huhu, interrupted by the sawmilling of the logs. Once the log is milled and the wood drying the beetle lava leave the wood, they don’t like dry wood, only cool moist logs. There is no longer any active borer or insects in these dry slabs, the borer tunnels are shown in these photos, they are part and parcel of the woods natural character. This mini slab is suitable for craft uses, and small woodworking projects.
