Swamp Totara Height Board Plank 724-3-1 RF1S ELE3

Rustic resawn board suitable for Height Board to record a child’s height growth. Wood chosen for rustic interest and appearance, colour, grain, other natural interest features including insect incursions, borer, e.g. Puriri moth holes. These boards have been resawn straight and flat, but with sawn surface finish,  are kiln conditioned. They can be simply sanded and oiled and installed or can be run through a thickness planer to give a finer, higher surface finish by a home woodworker or cabinet maker. Photographed with a light coat of low odour turps applied to bring out colour and grain, similar to what may be expected once oil or polyurethane finished.

This wood recovered from local peat land, possibly from a forest that was drowned and covered with silt as the Waikato river changed its course to the sea, tens of thousands of year ago.
